I am sure someone has already done this, and better, but In Search of inspired me to collect some of my personal "most scary" television theme music together. I used to run and hide in the bathroom until the theme for Unsolved Mysteries was over.

The opening theme to the British anthology series TALES OF THE UNEXPECTED was very creepy as well.
I vote X-Files best ever--haunting music for an haunting series; still miss it, I do. The movies sucked!
I always have a soft spot for the Twilight Zone opening, it may not be scary but its damn good! Cool list.
