Fat Cat

Feed Me...

We went to Sunnyvale last night where they were having a "Farmer's Market." It was very much like the Santa Rosa "Farmer's Market," which most people used as an excuse to get drunk (while looking at vegetables.) The street itself was pretty cool. It had 3 Irish Pubs on it, 2 of which were named "Murphy's."
In other news, I finished House of Leaves. It was very good but the ending was not what I expected. I am now reading Eat, Pray, Love, which was recommended by my book Guru Lisa. What is next Lisa?

Instead of cleaning....

I spent 1/2 hour looking at Zombie-related garbage on the Web. Now in my defense, my hands are really hurting today so I am putting off what is sure to be a painful day of cleaning my apartment.
And Zombies just make me feel better.

In other news I am almost done with the book that I am reading: House of Leaves. Which is good because I only have 7 days until the final Twilight book comes out. House of Leaves is one of those books that is so good you almost don't want to finish it. I am sure my husband is tired of me bitching about how it is driving me crazy though. If you have read the book you will understand why.

Now I must go clean my apartment, although what I really want to do is watch a double feature of the 70's Dawn of the Dead and the new Dawn of the Dead. That will have to wait for another day..

Step Brothers

Very, very funny. I would write a review but it is just to f-ing early in the morning. Lets just say that anything involving Will Ferrell playing the drums with his nut sac is awesome in my opinion.

Giving it up..

So as of August 8th we will be TV-Free (cable I mean, I am not giving up Netflix). I kind of feel the same way I did when I quit smoking. I know it is good for me but I feel like I am losing my best friend. Jonathan and I are compiling a list of "reasons" to give up TV. On that list is:
  1. Brooke Knows Best
  2. I Love Money
  3. Living Lohan
  4. I could go on but ANY reality show
  5. The new 90210
  6. American Gladiators (I once, for one day, loved you)

Quite a few people who read this blog (well, 2 out of 7) don't have cable. We are soliciting advice for things to do with all this spare time we will have. Please remember this is a PG-13 Blog.

More Trailers..

LOVE Christian Bale right now: an Arnold-Free Terminator is what the world needs. This is a perfect teaser trailer: just shows a little, gives a little hint of what is to come. Awesome.

Watchmen Trailer

Its ComicCon week, so all this cool shit is coming out. I still can't figure out how to post video on the blog, although I am told it is very easy. Head on over here to check out the Watchmen trailer: http://movies.yahoo.com/movie/1808406490/video/8881451

What we have been waiting for...

Holy Shit Batman!!! What a great film! A combo crime drama/action flick/dark as hell Superhero story, it works on every level. My only complaint is that it is a little on the long side, and you might want some Red Bull before going to see it. Definitely not a "mindless" summer popcorn flick. Heath Ledger is just as good as everyone says he is.

Is my Starbucks on the Doomed List?

That was a headline on Yahoo news that I found really funny. People, I guess, are freaking out. Guess what peeps- you can buy Starbucks at Safeway and brew it your damn self. What really sucks are the 12,000 plus people out of a job soon.

Making me happy this Weekend..

The new Star Trek poster (just in time for ComicCon) and Ronny Turiaf, the only good Laker, joining the Warriors!!! Happy day, he is a crazy MoFo..

Feed Me!!!

Not that bad..

Saw the "remake" of Day of the Dead yesterday and it was not as bad as everyone said. Not that is was good or anything.
In fact, the original Day of the Dead sucked balls as well. I love that Hollywood has so run out of ideas that they are making shitty re-makes of shitty movies.
The only good thing about the original Day of the Dead was the introduction of "Bud" the smart Zombie. "Bud" is in the remake as well, only this time "Bud" doesn't kill because he was a vegetarian in his human life. He also gets his head ripped off by other Zombies. I think the moral lesson here is that if you become a Zombie, don't be a pussy (not that vegetarians are pussies... just Zombie vegetarians.)
There are three things I liked about this re-make. #1: Zombies with Guns, which is pretty funny and scary, like rednecks with guns. #2: Airshaft smart Zombies. #3: Watching Nick Cannon's career go downhill. He is so bad in this movie. It really makes me wonder what the hell is going on with him and Mariah Carey. Did he realize "Hey, I suck as an actor. I better marry up."
The other thing I love about this movie, and all Zombie movies on DVD, is the making-of features. I love watching actors in full Zombie make-up waiting around for direction or goofing off or practicing lines. It is like a Zombie wonderland. I could watch Zombie movie making-of features all day.

Guilty Pleasures..

I was recently horrified myself with the realization that I actually like the music of Jack Johnson. Which got me to thinking about other "Guilty Pleasures" that I indulge in. Here is a short list:

The Music of Jack Johnson: I am very close to owning a CD. Damn Live 105 for playing his music. It kind of makes me feel like I am stoned, without the crushing paranoia.

The Twilight Series: No further discussion needed.

Flowers in the Attic: And anything by VC Andrews. It is all so very trashy.

Gossip Girl: A fairly new GP.

Degrassi: A long time obsession. The "Next Generation" is just as good as the original I used to watch after school on PBS. Really, anything Canadian can be placed under a Guilty Pleasure.

Cheaters: But only the episodes hosted by Joey Grecko (the ones after he got stabbed are the best.)

Justin Timberlake: JT the singer, not the actor. He is the kiss of death for movies.

GhostHunters: Which I don't see as a Guilty Pleasure, but as a practical guide to dealing with the Ghosts, Elementals, Demons, and Poltergeists in my life.

Bird Meeting...

The Bird meeting was about overthrowing the Human Race. Thanks to all that voted.

New Yorker has lost it's mind..

This is one of the worst media mis-steps since Judith Regan tried to publish "If I Did It" by OJ Simpson. The New Yorker is claiming "satire." The purpose of the cover is to call attention to how Obama and his wife are mis-represented in certain media outlets. Their argument is that most people will understand it (they are assuming that most of America is well versed with the satirical tradition of The New Yorker. Not only is that not the case, but as Keith Knight wrote: Knowing the New Yorker, I understand what they were trying to do. But an effective satirical cartoon- you shouldn't have to know the cartoonist or the magazine to get it.) Well, the 12% of Americans who still believe Obama is Muslim or will take his oath of office with hand on the Koran won't get it. Of course, those people won't buy The New Yorker anyway, seeing as how they are not allowed to because they are not from New York.

Pearls before Swine

Teeth

I forgot to mention that I finally saw Teeth the other day and I highly recommend it, if you can handle it. I usually don't like these "adolescent-feminist-horror" films (of which there are plenty, like the highly overrated Ginger Snaps) but this one has enough of a sense of humor and plenty of gore to keep it from being annoying. But honestly, I couldn't imagine being a man watching this film. It would give me serious issues..

King on Horror Films

http://www.ew.com/ew/article/0,,20210538,00.html?xid=rss-movies-20080709-Stephen+King%3A+Why+Hollywood+can%27t+do+horror

Great article by Stephen King about the sad state of the Modern Horror Film. I wish he would write an updated version of Danse Macabre.

Please Check out LIO

As I mentioned in my old Blog "I Love Lio!" Check it out at http://www.gocomics.com/lio/. The readers of the Chronicle want to get rid of Lio because its too "Dark." Lio is too dark but "For Better or Worse" is ok? There is more death and heartbreak in that comic than in "Schindler's List."

The Orange Menace VS. Bela..

THE CONFRONTATION..

ATTACK!!!

UNDERSTANDING..

PEACE...(OUT)

Big Night Out

So after a year of talking about it we finally went to Dave & Busters, which is like Chuck E Cheese but soaked in alcohol. Here is Pumpkin and BDog. I hope no Gangstas look at this blog.

Here is the Skee-Ball fanatic. We really went just for the Skee-ball. When I played that little girl in the stroller beat me..

And here is the Orange Menace with the Tweety Bird pillow I won for him. He was pretty pissed at us for leaving him alone all night, but the pillow calmed him down. All in all Dave & Busters was pretty weird but I can't wait to go again for the Skee-ball and the Pony Races. If we could just build Skee-ball in our backyard that would save alot of money...

Whats Happening???

There is some crazy shit coming for all 7 readers of my Blog. I am not telling you what but it is going to blow your everlovin' mind

What is the mystery? What is happening? It's like an M.Night Shyamalan movie but a whole lot less crappy.

Stay Tuned..

Or Don't: It's just Pumpkin and me trying to photograph the Bird Meeting we see every day from the Dumbarton Bridge. No one believes us when we tell them how awesome it is. They just think we are going insane. Which is true...

5 stages of grief

Baron Davis just signed with the Clippers. At least is was not the Lakers. I am in the Anger stage of grief but fast-tracked to depression stage. If Ellis leaves I am moving.

On a more positive note this kick ass poster just came out for The Dark Knight. I finally saw a preview for it the other day that looked really good. I got the "I can't wait to see that" goosebumps. The Dark Knight and Hellboy II are the only films I am really looking forward to seeing at the moment. I have a bad "It sucks like Indiana Jones" feeling about Hancock. Plus, Will Smith is one couch jump away from Tom Cruise like crazy.

Boutchy

So I was watching Mean Girls for the 400th time last night on television. Instead of "Bitchy" they substituted "Boutchy," which actually sounds nastier. "I'm sorry, was I being Boutchy? You can kiss my asp you Motivator." Nothing really beats Motivator.
